The preschool in remote Chikukwa offers children from precarious backgrounds child-friendly care and support. The school is collectively supported by the community and ensures the healthy physical, mental and spiritual development of the next generation.
The pre-school was founded as a community initiative by the people of Chikukwa. It provides early childhood development for the three to six-year-old children of this remote region and prepares them for elementary school. The pupils are introduced to the English language and learn basic reading and writing skills. They receive a school uniform and learning materials, and ROKPA also pays the school fees of particularly needy families and orphans. At school, the children are provided with at least two meals in order to prevent deficiencies that affect their physical, mental and educational abilities.
This year, Oh Sheet! worked with ROKPA International to build 10 toilets for the children attending the preschool. Toilets as we know them are a luxury in many parts of the world, including Chikukwa, Zimbabwe. By building toilets, we are giving the children the opportunity to have proper sanitary facilities, which prevents disease and promotes privacy and dignity.
We are very happy and proud to mark this as our first milestone in our mission and are very grateful for every customer and every support!
